The new M3 and M4 are announced and have been presented! Here is what you need to know so far:
The new language of Design The M3 and M4 are going new "futuristic" ways in term of their designs. And I honestly tried to understand the decisions they made on the design... But I still can't fully support it personally. It looks quite cool I think - futuristic sporty and definitely daring. But as everyone knows: Design is subjective.
The Performance Performance wise, the new M3 and M4 are clearly more powerful than their predecessors:
The M3 (G80) Competition, the till now top model variation announced, delivers 510 horsepower (450 hp in the last 2018 competition model) and the power is transmitted through a converter automatic. But the truly sporty one, you'll find in the M5. Also the M3 Competition will bring 650 Nm of torque down on the asphalt! That will be 100 Nm more than the last M3 Competition series.
The M4 Competition as well is with it's 510 hp at the front line up of the M Performance pole. Like the M3 Competition, it delivers 650 Nm of torque in the top model Competition, and is just 5 kg lighter than the M3 and weighs 1800kg. The M3 weighs 1805 kg compared to his coupé brother, the M4 Competition.
So it's no secret these two brothers from the same race stable are very close in their performance figures:
0-100 M3 Competition - 3.9 s M4 Competition - 3.9 s
Max. Speed M3 Competition - 250 kph (limited) M4 Competition - 250 kph (limited)
Nordschleifen Zeit (coming soon - here you will see, which car has the better track abilities)
The only differences so far:
- The slightly lower trunk volume in the M4 Coupé.
- The 5 kg weight difference.
- The design, respectively the design type of the cars
So our final verdict: The design is very subjective - it's a daring design, futuristic as well, new and fresh, but maybe not everyones taste. But the performance is mindblowing and a big step forward! We like the twins!
