The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is a rallye legend. It was produced for over twenty years now. And all of these years, this car fulfilled our hearts with joy and excitement! Every single development of the Evo, turned in a new era in the rallye motorsports.
Unfortunately, with the Evo X, this development of a stunning car, which amazed us for decades, has come to an end.
But the Evo X has still one more surprise for us: He is waving goodbye to us in a last new model garment: As the Mitsubishi Evolution X Final Edition!
With now 303 hp and 414 Nm of torque, he will take us back in time and tells us the story of his time. He takes us back to the 1996 World Rallye Championship, where Tommi Makinen won the WRC driver’s title, driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from 1996. Afterwards, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with Makinen behind the steering couldn’t be stopped anymore. Thereupon, this unbeatably rehearsed team, won the 1997-1999 World Rallye Championships as well. That means four consecutive WRC driver’s titles! With the Evo X’s rallye car ancestors! To celebrate this unbelievable performance, Mitsubishi produced the Lancer Evolution VI Makinen Edition:
The Evo X Final Edition is wearing some reinforced brembo brakes at the front, some tough dampers by Bilstein and effective Eibach-springs and the excellent all-wheel-drive by Mitsubishi called SAWC = Super All-wheel Control-System.
But is this truly the end of an era? There is light on the end of the tunnel guys! It is rumored, that a Lancer Evolution XI is being developed and that it will come back with an hybrid system… Sounds cool!
Let’s hope the best!
